Exercise and How to Manage Stress
Stress can be defined as a state of emotional or mental strain which in most cases have adverse effects. A stressed person is prone to psychological breakdown. Many things can cause stress. People are affected by the causes of stress differently. Where we can be a source of our stress. Among the things at a workstation that can lead to stressful situations are long working hours, working under dangerous conditions, and also being unhappy with the job. There are also life stresses. These emanate from the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, getting married and much more.
Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. One might stress themselves when they worry too much about certain things. Examples of such are fear and certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes. It is unhealthy to be stressful. People are advised to try as much as they can to relieve themselves from stress. There are proven negative health effects of stress. Irritability, a headache, fatigue, and difficulty in sleeping are the examples of the health implications of stress. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. The good news is that there are ways to manage stress.
The simple tips of dealing with stress are as follows. It is important that a stressed person should avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Nicotine and caffeine are examples of stimulants. These substances will increase the levels of stress rather than reducing. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, however, it is not a helpful way of dealing with stress. Another way of managing stress is getting enough sleep. This is because lack of sleep has been identified as a cause of stress. There are certain relaxation techniques that can assist someone to reduce stress. Tests done to majority of these techniques confirm their efficiency.
The other way of dealing with stress is through doing exercise. Stress is characterized by the increasing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. The levels of these hormones can be increased further by doing exercise. It is not a must for someone to do a vigorous physical exercise to achieve this. Walking in fresh air can also be useful. There are even better benefits of incorporating physical exercise into your daily routine.
Exercise helps in stress management following certain mechanisms. Exercise has the effect of pumping endorphins into the body. These are neurotransmitters that induce a good feeling to the brain When someone exercises, they tend to forget about the irritations that they have had. The mood of a person can be improved following an exercise session. Improving the moods of a person is as a result of increased confidence, and lowering symptoms of depression.
